Need help building for new devices
  • jaydubjaydub November 2011

I would like to build for a couple devices I currently own. ( iconia A500, G2X, vibrant, SGS4G, Thrive, and MB300 ) I was wondering if anyone would be interested in helping me out. I have compiled from source for a couple existing devices but I would like to learn how to build for unsupported devices ( CM7 and AOSP ) Also I am interested in building kernels. I am not looking for anyone to hold my hand through the process but do need to be pointed to quality learning materials and someone how can answer questions for me. I learn very quickly and have a pretty good base. Thank you in advance.

SGS4G: krylon is working on currently you can talk to him on twitter @krylon360
its still not working so its sort of an unsupported device.

MB300: is already supported in cm7 and is built just like cliq, so anything you know on cliq will be the same  (Cliq, Cliq XT, and backflip were all identical)

For kernels i use this :)

    http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Building_Kernel_from_source
its a basic overview on how to build a kernel in general, changes with device but its pretty spot on for most.

What device do you want to build a kernel for first?

I would have to say the G2X as it is my daily phone. I would like to build a OC kernel with some governers. I like  the one I use now by faux123 but it doesn't have any governers

I wanted to try and build CM 7 for my sk but i was told that you need a gingerbread kernel and its impossible to build gingerbread without it   :L

@john_2k2 its not impossible but its god damn hard. Krylon is having a hard time with SGS4G because of that fact.

@jaydub repo sync with his github for g2x and apply governor patches from other ROMs, if you want i can find some for you and help you apply them :)

try spliting the boot and use a froyo kernel and put it with a gingerbread ramdisk-folder and there you go. gingerbread boot.img.
