Uggg that sucks!!
Ask @jaydub, I believe he modded the keymappings for a user.
SUCCESS!
Found the file.
/system/usr/keylayout/adp5588_morrison.kl
Scrolled down till i found the CAMERA line.
# CAMERA CAPTURE
key 31 CAMERA
to
key 31 MENU
reboot.
success!
now on to learning how to make a patch so i can just flash it anytime. without any issues :)
do the patches work by just simply copying over files? guess i'll look into it saturday when i have some time, unless someone wants to give me a quick tutorial.
A GScript script? That file is an essencial file on the Android system, editing it and pushing is how it's done.
ok cool. well im going to dick with it on saturday. @sudoadam thanks. looks to be what ive been getting used to doing with apache, bind and debian/arch updates as of late. should be easy. i think i'm looking at it in a more daunting way since its on my phone. ( as opposed to live servers, right? :P )
@DJGHOSTS3V3N funny thing is that this morning I wrote the script, fired an edited keylayout on my sd card then ran the script and look at that...now my camera key is my menu key.
@phin if you want the .sh file to set this up let me know I will upload for ya...you will need gscript from market and your edited keylayout.kl file on the root of your sd card...after that its just a couple presses to load it any time you want.
Actually it's not much code so here ya go
mount -o rw,remount /system
cp /sdcard/adp5588_morrison.kl system/usr/keylayout
mount -o ro,remount /system
reboot
Like I said just put your edited adp5588_morrison.kl file on the root of your sd card and run the script. Worked perfectly for me with no side effects.
Well. Now the home and back keys are out and i mapped those to my volume rocker. If i open up my phone the touch screen doesnt work, if i close it, its fine. so that only has a matter of time. my upgrade is the end of december. anyone have a mytouch or cliq they want to part with for cheap? =)
Well i was given a mt3g for a pack of smokes so i suppose this will last me till my upgrade.
On that note, any of the cyanogenmod porters are more then welcome to my cliq. It just needs the ribbon cable replaced and comes with the otterbox case. First come first serve. It is the least i could do for the amazing work you guys have done over the past few months and the amount of work this group has done to get me into the android platform.
feel free to respond here or msg me privately to arrange delivery.
the cliq should still have factory warranty. why not send it in?
call up motorola and ask them yourself
i even sent mine in rooted, and they fixed it no problem XD
but be warned they will reset your device. you will lose all mods
my warrenty is up. already called. i have decided to donate it to @ngiordano for all of his hardwork and if he can somehow manage to get them to fix it, kudos to him.
After two years with the phone i'm done with it. Im rather enjoying playing with a new device and starting to get used to the touchscreen. I planned on making the jump to the nexus prime when im eligable for renewal at the end of december. If it is not on tmo by then then i will most likely go to sprint if they get it.
I'm not going to deny my love for that phone though. It definitely gave me a heads up into the community and we should all be thankful that each of us a owners of the cliq were able to come together and create the community we have here and not have to deal with all of the b/s that is on xda.
I definitely have no plans to leave this community and hope my further expansion into different android devices helps me to add more to this community in the future.
:-)
+1 thanks.
