I have downloaded the latest rom from cm which is CM7.1.0.1 and also flashed it with latest CWM. I am wondering what else I should install and will I need to update the kernel, current KERNEL is 2.6.29.6_ngiordano_2.

I wanted to ask the developer Mr. ngiordano but was not sure how to do it since this is my fist post here.

Also, if any suggestions on which apps I should be installing to get the best ouf of my cliq.

    Thanks for your time,

  • ngiordanongiordano November 2011

lol I'm always lurking. As far as the kernel goes, the latest kernel is in the latest build. Which I have to say, I tested and am quite impressed with it. Just flash the latest gapps and try whatever you'd like. If you have issues with anything think about the last thing installed. If you can avoid it, try not to move apps to SD. It seems to cause boo-loops for some. Although I believe it may be something with the SD card itself. Hard to say.

    Don't be afraid to post. I'll help when I can...anytime I'm free :-)

    Welcome to the forum.

  • mradujkovicmradujkovic November 2011

    Thank you.

Back to flashing latest gapps, you are reffering to google apps, correct?

  • ngiordanongiordano November 2011

Yes I am. Be sure to follow all the instructions on the first page of my thread. You'll get a lot of info there. Some you won't need but still good to know.

  • mradujkovicmradujkovic November 2011

Actually I have the latest gapps. since i have installed the latest CM7 for CLIQ, so I should be good?

  • ngiordanongiordano November 2011

    Should be :-)

  • mradujkovicmradujkovic November 2011

Also I had played with CPU governers and settings, and its an awesome thing. I am running PERFORMANCE governor and 748 with no crashing for 2 weeks now.

You guys are the best, what a difference from the 2.1.

  • ngiordanongiordano November 2011

    :-)

At least I get some accolades. Some don't get how much work went into bringing this to the Cliq. Too many ungrateful sh** heads.

  • mradujkovicmradujkovic November 2011

np, great work should be always acknowledged.

Question, so the CM7.1.0.1 v 2.3.7 build GWK74, is the latest for CLIQ, correct?

  • ngiordanongiordano November 2011

Nightly #160. It works very well. I have to warn you though, do not enable minimal ring. There's a bug in this build that causes it to soft-boot when trying to unlock. The only way to fix it is to wipe data.

  • mradujkovicmradujkovic November 2011

when do you think a stable new version would come up?

  • ngiordanongiordano November 2011

Stable is just one of the nightlies given a stable status during a milestone. The last was when CM changed versions to 7.1.0.1. The nightly builds are stable. There are a few small items that need attention. The bug I mentioned is on all devices for the time being. It should be fixed soon.

  • mradujkovicmradujkovic November 2011

then i will probably wait unitl is fixed, since I really dont have any experience when it comes to developing like you guys. I am just a copier, lol :)

  • ngiordanongiordano November 2011

#160 is the balls though. Just don't use the minimal rings lockscreen. LOL you probably won't even find it.

  • mradujkovicmradujkovic November 2011

so I should just flash it through the rom manager, correct? like I did the one I currently have.

  • ngiordanongiordano November 2011

Only if you have Rom Manager premium.

    Here's a direct link
You can flash either though Rom Manager or straight through recovery. Just wipe Dalvik. In recovery it is found in advanced. If you flash it through Rom Manager a window will pop up with wipe Dalvik already checked.

  • mradujkovicmradujkovic November 2011

I will try it. I can always go back the cm7.1.01. correct? Now, nightly come out every night shoud I keep reinstalling every night? That is a lot of work, right?

  • ngiordanongiordano November 2011

    Nah...you could check the changelog:

If you see a change you want to try then flash it. You could backup your current ROM in case you don't like the update.
The links I just post could also be found on first page of my CM7 thread.

  • mradujkovicmradujkovic November 2011

how do I find your thread? The link you posted is so cool, you can see what is going to happen in the next nightly that is amazing. Thank you.

  • mradujkovicmradujkovic November 2011

if i click on this link that you provided, once it opens on the top it has different devices, if you click on CLIQ different number for the zip comes up it says"cm_click_full-254.zip " I am assuming that is the same as http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/cm_morrison_full-160.zip, correct?

  • mradujkovicmradujkovic November 2011

never mind is a totally different phone, lol  :-D

  • ngiordanongiordano November 2011

Lol yep. The Cliq/Dext is the Morrison.
