can i flash my t-mobile cliq with a dext's radio to use on a AT&T 3G
  • I have been using my cliq on AT&T without 3g.  Was just wondering if it was possible to flash the Canadian dext's radio to my cliq so I can get 3G.

  • rockettpcrockettpc July 2011

Might work... remember to NandroidBackup! Wipe D&C, flash...

Are you trying to pick up AT&T US or Canadian?

And remember I didn't brick your phone, you did...

  • ngiordanongiordano July 2011

There is no way to backup your radio.

  • oh well. i will leave well enough alone. 3g would be nice, but i still love my cliq. i can do most things on wifi, so it's not that bad.

  • adlxadlx July 2011

No, IIRC you can't have 3g on AT&T (US at least) with a Cliq.

  • ngiordanongiordano July 2011

    That's what I think also...

  • jethro650jethro650 July 2011

AFAIK no updates have been given out to Canadian Bell dext. Bell uses same frequencies as AT&T. But with no updates there are no files to extract a radio image from. That is why we have to be very careful about what we flash. If someone like myself flashes a radio there is no returning. 3g is gone...and since Bell has no edge connection for data not only is 3g gone so is our data connection...I believe that AT&T is same situation...

  • ngiordanongiordano July 2011

I'm pretty sure if there was any radio version that would get 3G working on the Cliq/Dext that would have been big news. That would mean cross compatibility which is rare to non-existent for any device.

  • jethro650jethro650 July 2011

It would plastered all over the net as when first rooted looooong time ago cliq/dext users had to flash an Orange firmware which included a radio...of course anyone that didn't match the frequencies lost 3g and no way back...once upgraded the radio is very hard/almost impossible to downgrade back...and most in this situation their carriers offered no OTA updates that may have helped.

Pardon my ignorance, but i just want to help in any way i can after all the help everyone on this site provides to me... i have a Canadian / Bell Mobility Dext... can i be of any help?

or is it like you guys were saying, if it could be done someone would have already done it?

  • ngiordanongiordano July 2011

AT&T uses a different 3G frequency than most companies. Making it difficult for devices to switch from say T-Mobile to AT&T and keep 3G. If there were a radio.img available that would make it possible to switch to AT&T I'm pretty certain it would be discovered by now.

There are many Cliq/Dext users. If it were possible, it should have been stumbled on by now.

  • jethro650jethro650 July 2011

I am not sure its possible...at least with my limited knowledge. I to am on Bell in Canada and have been searching off and on for months about how to extract the radio img from my phone without bricking it. Have even asked on several forums how and got no responses. I have my phone rooted and my girlfriends phone(same) stock unrooted.
I believe that the .sbf and radio img come from OTA's from service providers and are taken apart and files extracted from that. Since Bell has not provided any updates to the dext then there is nothing to get files from. I did find a way thaT might work getting radio img from phone but said there was a great possibility of bricking your phone so I gave up on that.

haha.. yeah i had enough scary moments recently that i'd like to avoid :)

  • anatitianatiti August 2011

Ok, something weird is happening here.  Im in canada with bell.  Ive been using adlx 2.1.5 for a while, worked 3G, switched to CM7 2.3.4 , 3G works, updates with nighlies, CM7 3G works, now updated to CM7 PureAOSP, lost it! What happened?

  • ngiordanongiordano August 2011

Check in settings. See if "only 2g" is enabled.

  • anatitianatiti August 2011

    its not

  • jethro650jethro650 August 2011

And check to make sure data is enabled....none of those ROMs have radios so that should't be

  • anatitianatiti August 2011

Data is enabled, I don't have 3G, have no data at all but on wifi.  The only option checked in mobile networks is "Data Enabled".  I rebooted phone, still no data

  • anatitianatiti August 2011

But my phone stil recognizes bell as my provider

  • anatitianatiti August 2011

By the way my baseband is 5030, makes sense?

  • jethro650jethro650 August 2011

Yup thats the one...give me a few...i will write down my apn and you can check yours...I'm on Bell Canada also...
K here it is,if its different make sure you write yours down so you can restore it,but, it should be the same

  • anatitianatiti August 2011

ok thanks for your help.  If I can;t fix it, I will restore my backup , I just hope it will come back ...

    :-((

  • anatitianatiti August 2011

where do you get that info?  Ive never seen that?

    forget it Found it

  • anatitianatiti August 2011

Hey, , APN is Access point names right?  But it shows BLANK, nothing at all

  • jethro650jethro650 August 2011

Yes...when you press on access point names you should have another window that says Bell or Bell Internet. If not press menu and add apn using above info it should work...one last line I forgot something about IpV4 or IpV6 set it to 4 or both...

  • anatitianatiti August 2011

Ok I entered the values.  I noticed that when I was filling it up, MCC and MNC showed up with the correct values.  That confirmed that my radio is alive. I think!

this line :   MMS proxyVweb.wireless.bell.ca  should be "web.wireless.bell.ca" wright?  I tried Vweb as well. Then I saved settings, and selected bell as APN.  rebooted phone, still no 3G!

I actually found the setting on the Bell.ca support pages and there are the same values....

  • jethro650jethro650 August 2011

You are correct my battery was dying and I was hurrying...sorry for the syntax error.
So still no 3g....doesn't make sense...unless your network area is down....

  • anatitianatiti August 2011

well thank you for you suggestions, I will keep you updated if I find out.

  • anatitianatiti August 2011

Jethro650 - I finally got it to work.  First I restored my last backup, 3G went back on.  Then I reflashed but this time without applying the fullwipe and no wipe data/cache.  3G works.  So just to try, I wiped data/cache again, of course no 3G since no APN settings, I reentered the settings you pro vided, and bang, 3G back ON.  I don't understand why it worked this time, but hey, it works!  Thanks again!

  • jethro650jethro650 August 2011

Great news, happy it worked out for you and that I could help a little. All newer ROM's do not include a radio so it's usually just a matter of a messed up APN or a setting somewhere...Had me worried there for a bit though...there is a small risk any time you flash something to your phone...
