im having a problem with my MOTOROLA CLIQ, i get random reboots like 2 or 3 times a day.
  • felminfelmin July 2011

    can somebody help me PLZ

  • jaydubjaydub July 2011

what rom are you using? do you have the phone OCed?

  • jaydubjaydub July 2011

    OCed=over clocked

the phone being over clocked is one of the most common reasons for random reboots.
if you do not have phone over clocked you could try doing a full wipe and reflashing the rom.

Has this been happening since you flashed the ROM?

  • felminfelmin July 2011

no i had the ROM installed for like2 months and like a week ago I started to expirience random reboots

  • jaydubjaydub July 2011

did you flash anthing over the ROM like a new kernel anything

  • felminfelmin July 2011

    no

  • jaydubjaydub July 2011

have you tried to do a full wipe ( maybe use ngiordano's super wipe patch
and re-flashing the origianl rom. dont restore any of your apps and see if you still get the reboots

  • felminfelmin July 2011

how do i use the super wipe

  • ngiordanongiordano July 2011

You flash it in recovery. After it's complete wipe data/factory reset to stop the script. Flash the ROM.

  • felminfelmin July 2011

    ok

    thanks man

  • Double0EKDouble0EK July 2011

Also, it could be the phones hardware causing the reboots.

  • felminfelmin July 2011

im gettin a new phone soon so it doesnt really matter

  • felminfelmin July 2011

guys i did every thing u guys told me to do and im still getting the RANDOM reboots

  • M49NuM_357M49NuM_357 July 2011

Probably a hardware problem, I have that problem too, although I get 4-8 reboots a day

  • felminfelmin July 2011

so ur sayin that because of hacking it alot, this is the results???

  • ronattackronattack July 2011

No no. Just wear and tear or a defect or maybe an aging device

  • felminfelmin July 2011

    and one more question

is the samsumg galaxy indulge 4g from metro PCS a worth buying phone

i really want a fast smart phone with androis and looks like that the one i could afford

  • felminfelmin July 2011

and im thinkin of hacking it to

do u experts recomend me doing that??

  • M49NuM_357M49NuM_357 July 2011

Bro, no phone from MetroPCS is worth buying, MetroPCS is not even worth signing up to

  • M49NuM_357M49NuM_357 July 2011

If you want a good affordable device, head down to Best Buy, and get yourself a Nexus S for T-Mobile, it will cost you $100 but that device is great for hacking and it supports many incredible ROMs, like Cyanogenmod and MIUI

  • felminfelmin July 2011

im moving out of t-mobile because i cant afford it anymore

and thats why im planning of gettin the samsumg indulge 4G

  • M49NuM_357M49NuM_357 July 2011

T-Mobile's new Value Plans sound pretty affordable, unlimited everything, not to mention good service for about $60 a month, sounds like a good deal

Folks, I have to say that after flashing Cyan 7 (multiple different nightlies) I began experiencing these reboots as well.  Actually, I have 3 Cliqs for everyone in my family and after flashing all 3 with the latest Cyan 7 they are all experiencing this problem.  They never did it before....how can you explain that?  Its NOT hardware..

  • jethro650jethro650 July 2011

With 20some thousand people running CM7 and not having many issues I think it would do to ask a couple questions...like have you used ngiordanos super wipe patch recently...the latest nightlies are a different android version and may require a good wiping. Also, are you overclocking...not all phones are created equal and handle overclocking the same...and are you using the latest kernel posted in the main CM7 thread....just to start....

  • sallan513sallan513 July 2011

I know jethro thats what is making this so damn confusing.  I have only used the superwipe that was included in the original download of the full package. Not sure if its the same one...the strange thing is that this ROM was awesome at first and did not reboot for like the first week or so...then it began doing it more consistantly each day. I tried setting the clock speeds to the lowest values to rule out the OC issues as well.  I will give the ngiordanos superwipe a shot and see if it helps.  I absolutely LOVE the ROM so I hope it works out.  I will keep everyone informed if it does...thanks for the reply!  Just curious, what nightly are you using?

  • jethro650jethro650 July 2011

I am using full 50 and the latest kernel #13 I believe not overclocked. Wipe patch and kernel is in the first couple post in the CM7 thread. Try one phone first just to see and if your backing up data do not restore system data...only stuff like apps and contacts and texts....

  • Double0EKDouble0EK July 2011

@Sallan513 - were not saying ALL random reboots are caused by hardware. You need to test it by flashing a stock firmware and use it at least for 24hrs to see if the reboots occur.
Also Nightly builds are TEST ROMs not Stable release ROMs. But if you follow the CM7 thread OCing isn't really needed and there is also a different kernel to flash that will improve performance, reduce heat issues (which could lead to random reboots) and fix a few other issues.

  • sallan513sallan513 July 2011

OK, just downloaded Full 50, Super-Wipe and the #13 fix.

Did a Super-Wipe in recovery mode (twice), flashed Full 50, flashed #13, re-installed Google Apps PAK and left all settings alone in the Performance settings.  Will let ya know how I make out...

In "About Phone" (let me know if anything looks wrong to you please?

    Android Version 2.3.5

    Baseband version 76xxc-63805025-5dcbalum

    Kernel version 2.6.29.6

    Mod version Cyanogenmod-7-07272011-nightly-cliq

  • jethro650jethro650 July 2011

Kernel version also reads nelson@nelson-w3650 #13
I forgot to mention but fixing permissions under advanced in recovery never hurts.
Really hope this works out for you

  • sallan513sallan513 July 2011

    ahhh..different Kernel? Mine says nelson@nelson-W3650 #6

Didnt do the fix permissions but I will get in there now and do that...

Think I need to do anything about the Kernel number difference?
