[OneClick] RecoveryFlasher for Motorola Cliq/CliqXT/BackFlip
  • adlxadlx June 2011

Application for n00bs to download and flash a recovery onto their phone with one-click!

    - The phone must obviously be rooted prior to using the app (like you would need to root it to install manually
    - When opening the application, it will automatically show an updated list of known recoveries for that phone model.
    - Choose a recovery: CWM, Amon_RA, or even Stock Recovery...
    - Click on "Flash" and the app will download the recovery for you (to SD card), ask for confirmation and flash it to your phone's recovery partition.

Here is the first beta release of the app (yet fully functional): com.adlx.recoveryflasher_0.1.apk

Some things are still missing, for the moment, like a custom app icon, and you may find some "debug" messages.

There are some known issues that I'll fix, but they don't impact the app functionality:
    - the app will simply FC is you don't have network access (needed to download the list of recoveries).
    - the app won't check either if there is an SD card inserted

    Supported phones for now:
    - Motorola MB200: Cliq & Dext
    - Motorola MB300: Backflip
    - Motorola MB501: CliqXT & Quench

I'd appreciate if you test the app, and report any bug you may find. If you have an FC, please send me a logcat and explain me when it occured. Big thanks in advance.

PS: I know Nelson (@ngiordano) did an app to flash recoveries on the Cliq. This one is not to compete with his, it started more as an Android devel training for myself, then I made it extensive to CliqXT and Backflip :-)

    Great job! It looks awesome!

  • adlxadlx June 2011

Thanks :-D A pity I made it so late, I mean, right now few of the potential users won't have changed already their recovery. Anyway it served as a training :-D, I learned a lot, and I still have to clean and rework the code :)

  • Nice. Good job and great idea :)

Version 1.0 is now available (free) on the Android Market http://bit.ly/lUKZDE :-D

If you find it cool, rate it and why not place a nice comment . Thanks

Thanks!  Perfect timing.  Had to reflash and reroot.  Now I can easily put in a custom recovery.  I basically had to click 3 buttons to go from bootlooping phone with no recovery to a rooted phone with a custom recovery lol.

I love your app. I am having some trouble though. How does it check the model of the phone. It says my phone isn't supported. I have a CLIQ.

  • JassyCliqJassyCliq August 2011

its probably reading that we have the crespo because since cliq never officially got passed 2.1 (or in some cases 1.5) so we have to use the crespos thing for it

It works on cm7 nightly but not on my cm7 build. I want to flash back to CWMv4.0.1.0 but I can't find the link and accidentally  erased my backup.

i think that one might be it?? idk i forgot

  • ngiordanongiordano August 2011

    That is it.
    @jaydub
    it's the build.prop

  • adlxadlx August 2011

It's using the values of these two props to guess the phone model :

    ro.product.manufacturer
    ro.product.model

Latest CM should now be correctly seen as Motorola MB200. Oldest CM version we seen as CLIQ, which is also supported by my app. So I guess you have changed these props.
