@cliqfroyo, I would head to Moto and get thier version of eclipse, which is bundled with everything you need to get started right away, i always find this to be the easiest install method.

Oh not even for blur, I use it for all android dev, they just did a better job @ packaging it together. No ADT to install.

gedit and ant is the best way! Gedit has syntax highlighting and ant gives detailed errors. Barebones is the best type of bones. Nuff said.
